Garron Griffitts is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the treatment of addiction treatment, marriage counseling and adolescent counseling. He also works with issues of depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger and other life challenges. He has worked as an adjunct faculty at ASU and has taught SWG 608: Ecological Approach to Working with Children, Youth and Families, SWG 664: Treatment of Substance Abuse Disorders and SWG511 Foundations of Practice 2.

His treatment approach centers around cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and attachment theory. He works to help people understand the power their thinking has over their feelings and their behaviors and the importance of having positive connections with others. Garron has worked extensively with the following addictions: drugs and alcohol, sex and pornography, and compulsive gambling. He works with individuals struggling with addiction and family members and loved ones of those struggling with addiction.

He works with people to help them develop healthy self-esteem and the skills and tools they need to successfully overcome their addiction. He also work with families to help them understand the nature of addiction and what they can do to take care of themselves and set the appropriate boundaries with their loved one struggling with addiction. Garron also offers Addiction Recovery Coaching to assist those in maintaining their sobriety after IOP, Residential Treatment or counseling.

Garron has the following experience working with addiction:
Facilitated an Intensive Outpatient Program for those struggling with substance additions and compulsive gambling addictions.
Ran groups for those with pornography and sex addiction along with groups for wives and significant others of those struggling with pornography and sex addictions.
Worked at residential treatment centers doing individual counseling and running relapse prevention, art, equine, time line and process groups.

Garron understands that successful marriages and relationships take effort on both individual’s part. He helps people see what each can do differently to strengthen their relationship and then helps them develop a plan to be the best partner they can be. A focus of treatment is to develop effective communication skills and understand that positive communication is a foundation for successful relationships.

Garron works with those preparing for marriage in pre-marriage counseling. He believes this is a critical time to learn important skills that can strengthen a relationship and build a successful marriage.

Garron has worked with adolescents for many years in high school and residential settings. When working with adolescents, he also stresses the importance of working with the parents and helping them gain the skills and tools they need to have a better relationship with their teen. Adolescence is a time of change, confusion and self discovery.  He works with teenagers to help them make sense of this difficult time by helping them understand who they are and assists them in having a better relationships with their families.

He as worked as a Clinical Director for a co-ed adolescent Residential Treatment Center that treated adolescents with general mental health and substance abuse problems.

He offers counseling services for the greater Phoenix area and addiction recovery and life coaching over phone, Skype and FaceTime nation wide.
