Therapist Directed Support Groups for Parents of Kids with ADD and ADHD

ADD kid 001Parenting a child with symptoms of ADD or ADHD can be exhausting.  Parents of kids with ADD or ADHD often feel like they have to constantly intervene at school or at home between these kids and the consequences society wants to give them for poor performance.  These parents spend a lot of time in IEP meetings wondering if the school wants to help their child or just kick him out of school.

This therapist-directed class is for parents of children diagnosed with ADD or ADHD; or for parents of kids who have symptoms of those diagnoses.  This class is for parents who are tired, frustrated, or exhausted with their child’s behaviors and who are seeking answers as to what they can do to help their child become successful.

In this class, parents can share their hopes, dreams, and frustrations regarding their child’s diagnosis and behaviors in an open and safe environment with other parents who understand because they are dealing with the same types of behaviors.

In this class, parents can discuss with other parents what has worked and what hasn’t worked with their child.  Topics such as:

  • medication
  • behavior modification
  • non-medication alternatives
  • rewards
  • punishments
  • consequences
  • problem solving
  • time management
  • emotional regulations
  • sensory processing

and many others often surface during the class.
